# Pages with Meta Nofollow and Backlinks

URLs which have backlinks but which have a meta or header nofollow directive.

## What issues it may cause

The [page level robots nofollow directive](https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2007/03/using-robots-meta-tag) means that every link on the page will have a nofollow applied, so PageRank cannot be passed through to other pages on the site and will be lost.

Search engines will not be able to discover any new URLs through links on these pages.

## How do you fix it

Consider removing the nofollow directive, or [applying a rel=nofollow](https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2019/09/evolving-nofollow-new-ways-to-identify) to specific links instead.
