Pages with an Ambiguous Topic

Pages that match two topics almost equally.

Priority: None

Impact: Negative

What issues it may cause

A page split between two topics sends a weaker signal for both, to search engines and to AI systems deciding which page to cite.

How do you fix it

Decide which topic each page should serve, then sharpen its title, headings and main content towards it. Where a page genuinely needs to cover both, consider splitting it or linking to a dedicated page for each topic.

What is the positive impact

Ambiguous pages are less likely to rank or be cited for either topic, and can compete with the site’s more focused pages.

How to fetch the data for this report template

You will need to run a crawl for report template to generate report. When report has been generated and you have crawl id you can fetch data for the report using the following query:

Operation: query GetReportStatForCrawl( $crawlId: ObjectID! $reportTemplateCode: String! $after: String ) { getReportStat( input: {crawlId: $crawlId, reportTemplateCode: $reportTemplateCode} ) { crawlUrls(after: $after, reportType: Basic) { nodes { pageTitle url primaryTopicName primaryTopicScore secondaryTopicName secondaryTopicScore topicScoreGap topicMatchCount searchConsoleTotalClicks citationsCount topicSimilarities } totalCount pageInfo { endCursor hasNextPage } } } }Variables: {"crawlId":"TjAwNUNyYXdsNDAwMA","reportTemplateCode":"pages_with_ambiguous_topic"}
